This list could basically go on forever because the pop culture I'm immersed in is obsessed with the father-son relationship, and to a lesser extent the father-daughter relationship as encapsulated by daddy's girls. Me, I pay more attention to mother-daughter relationships, for various complex reasons. So this list could also be very short.

Why am I writing this instead of studying?
fannish5: 5 (canon) couples that seemingly came out of nowhere: Feferi/Sollux on Homestuck. I mean, I like them, and I was never a TA/AA shipper (I pale ship them), so it didn't bother me. But even looking back, I don't think there was so much as a hint before the kiss. And after, there wasn't much about them being matesprits, right up until the end.

Getting enough sleep, and quality sleep, has been hard. I'm experimenting with all sorts of patterns. I thought that the intense midday heat might make it easier to sleep less hours at night (work late into the quasi-chilly hours) and nap during the hottest hours, when the sun goes directly in my living room window and I have to close the shutters. But today I couldn't fall asleep. I wake up a lot with a dry mouth despite taking my antihistamines pretty religiously, and experiencing no clogging.
I guess the weather is getting me down because right now I feel pretty dispirited. Tomorrow I have to do some morning chores, but after that I will pull myself together and go spend the hottest hours in the library. They have air conditioning, and there are fewer distractions. Since my classmates sensibly organized and uploaded a shitload of study aides to an online depository way at the beginning of the year, I can study equally well with either computer. The only danger is my rapidly approaching an event horizon where going over the material for the third time probably won't help me remember it any better. Sometimes I wonder if I'm clever enough for the career path I chose.
Too tired to watch True Blood. It'll keep until after the test.

- Statistics went sort of okay but not great. I hadn't studied as hard as I might have, and the test was (not just according to me) pretty frustrating. My hopes of a 90-ish grades are pretty well dashed, but if it's bad enough maybe I'll take the second test and improve.
- I got back my calculus grade and I passed. All I was really hoping for.
- I got a haircut. It's shorter than I ever remember it being, since I was 12 or so, and it's layered, which is a radical move for me. Hopefully this will put an end to phenomenons like almost being late for class because brushing my hair was too painful. The stylist lectured me to take better care of it, but that's par for the course. I am trying!
- I have to reinstall my Sims 3 game for the third time this week because the latest patch borked it so bad. If this time doesn't take I shall be extremely displeased.
- I have not seen True Blood yet. :(

Wednesday, 25 February 2009 21:18So, yesterday was Tuesday, AKA family visit day, AKA pop culture immersion day. I got an early start because I had to leave work early for a doctor's appointment. I watched the last three episodes of season 3 of BSG, as well as episode 8 of True Blood. I also read about half of this month's comics, and some of the rest today.
Rewatching the first few eps of BSG I ever saw (in their entirety) made a lot more sense in context, naturally. I still feel as though ( !!! )
Comics! I haven't read BtVS (the Harmony issue) or Madame Xanadu yet. ( For length more than spoilers. )
