Reading and Writing
Thursday, 24 July 2025 15:28I'm working on an early draft of my
justmarriedexchange fic, while still also working on my multi-chapter Palia WIP. This is in between drafts of a still-secret origfic project. I had toyed with the idea of submitting to IFComp (despite my first foray being, uh, less than ideal), but the truth is, I have plenty on my plate, right now.
In reading news, I am still reading Trash of the Count's Family, though not glomming chapters with the same velocity as that first week or two. Lately, I was looking at the genderbend isekai category on MD, and after a few false starts, I came across Mental Otome, which is sweet and quirky and interestingly gender-ambivalent. It's complete, and not terribly long. I'm at volume 4, right now, and I expect I'll finish it by the end of the weekend.
The main problem with Mental Otome is the comments page, but that's on me, since I keep clicking the link for every chapter. This might be because so many other mangas with these tags (isekai and genderswap) have, uh. Unusually high incidence of sexual violence directed (or threatened) toward the protagonist. I kind of lucked out with my pick.
I've also been rewatching Spy x Family on Netflix, and I went back and watched Code: White, too. Weirdly, the dub for that seems to have different voice actors. Netflix doesn't have that big of a library, and sometimes I'm tempted to reactivate my Crunchyroll account.
