General likes: I resonate most with bittersweet endings over dark or purely triumphant ones. By which I mean endings where the main plot conflict is resolved, but there remains acknowledgement of wounds left unhealed.
I also like low-stakes stories, such as family or interpersonal drama. I'm especially enamored of low-stakes emotional drama in SFFnal settings.
General DNWs: Sexual and reproductive violence. Casual background aphobia of the "everybody has a soulmate" variety. Couched emotional abuse of the "it was for your own good uwu ungrateful" variety.
Part of the Glory - Balkan Beat Box
Political Fuck - Balkan Beat Box: Both BBB songs to me are more about the broad theme of the lyrics and the emotional energy of the song than specific lines in a more poetical way. These are both highly energetic, galvanizing songs that make you want to stand up and do something. The live performances are even moreso if you can find them on YouTube or elsewhere (last.fm has one).
Murder on the Dancefloor - Sophie Ellis-Bextor: Would love to see the POV of any of the characters in the video, especially of the male partner who gets dragged along for the lady's little impromptu crime spree.
The World Is Not Enough - Garbage: Last year's notes apply as well. Robot assassin adventures during, before or after the video's plot.
Sinkin' Soon - Norah Jones: I love the contrast between the playful melody and the rather grim content of the song's lyrics, and even more, the contrast between the grim conclusion and the simple, wholesome metaphors in the first verse. I could see this as a story from the POV of someone who was placidly stuck in the comfort of their own routine, and only awoke to the danger they're facing once it was already too late to avert it.
Trespassing - Adam Lambert: The narrator of this song is a really interesting character, but not necessarily very likable. An abrasive but honest character who comes into conflict with anyone who restricts him, for whatever reason. This is the character that I want to see more of, although he could be shown from the perspective of the antagonist, who gradually comes to understand his perspective. A kind of lowkey rivals to friends dynamic.
