Dear AU Exchange Author!
Sunday, 14 July 2019 12:22Yay!
Firstly, my yays/nays in brief:
DNWs: Canon-atypical descriptive violence, torture, gore, sexualized violence, back story trauma. No biphobia in mixed gender poly ships. No anti-asexuality or anti-aromanticism in romantic stuff, especially anything soulbond-adjacent.
Do want: Poly ships that are basically happy and successful, without necessarily being shiny and flawless model relationships. Messy friendships that have strong bonds but also a lot of resentment and emotional baggage. Complex parent-child relationships with mixed emotions, especially on the child's part. Bisexual, pansexual, aromantic, nonbinary, genderfluid characters. Dragons! Dragon shapeshifters! Weirdness! Murky genre boundaries, especially between fantasy and science fiction.
Affairs of the Court
This is a small fandom with very little fic so I'm pretty open for whatever goes. Though I didn't specifically list it, in any MC/Luis fic you can absolutely change Luis's gender.
Bluebeard or Sleeping Beauty fusions speak for themselves, I think. I had envisioned the MC in the role of the bride/princess, but if you feel like changing that up, that's cool. The general fairy tale AU tag is because there are so many fairy tales and I don't know them all. Encountering an AU of a fairy tale I'm not familiar with would actually be super cool!
By space opera I mostly mean the kind with a space empire and a space emperor and inexplicably recapitulating court intrigue tropes, except with spaceships and gravity-defying fashion.
Time loop could mean the MC is re-experiencing their life as though the game were being replayed, but with their memory intact (thin line between this and "characters aware they're fictional/in a video game"). It could also be another character taking on the self-aware role, or a small episode in the gaps of canon (between part 1 & 2, for example), or post-canon even.
You don't have to include all the characters I mentioned, and you can definitely include other characters, like the Monarch or the MC's family.
Hunger Pangs
Slim chances, but here goes: I nominated the Knight/Princess/Dragon OT3 tag based on a Tumblr post I made a while back, so this is the thing I most hoped for. I realize this is hopelessly specific, so on the off chance that someone offers this fandom I also included some related, but less specific tags, which you can go hog wild on.
Leverage
I really want dragons. I really, really want dragons. If there's a dragon in it, I'm in. Dragons in a modern setting? Cool. Living dragon space ship? Awesome. Totally storybook fake!medieval dragons and knights? Amazing.
Background on the knight/princess/dragon thing.
The Librarians
I love this poly ship and I prefer them together in any capacity, whether that's courtship stage or established or weird the-Library-has-decided-you're-soulmates shenanigans. Fairy tale AU could be the canonically established one, or something totally different. Could be a specific fairy tale (anything with a trickster!) or a crossover of several, or a pastiche of general fairy tale tropes.
Background on the knight/princess/dragon thing.
Cinders
Modern (with or without royalty) AU: I picture it with Basile as the young scion (a prince, or the heir to a vast corporation, or something analogous) who is trying to be normal in college/uni or at his job, but keeps being thwarted by his parents or Perrault.
Soul bonds: any pairing is fine by me, with or without Carmosa's "helpful" interference. Fairies can be involved or not, up to you.
Role swap: I have two scenarios in mind for this. In the first one, Carmosa dies when Sophia and Gloria are very young, and Cinders' dad tries to raise all three girls, except the fundamental clash in personality between him and Sophia create friction in their relationship. In the second one, Carmosa is somehow successful in marrying the widowed King, Basile is her step-son, and he has to marry to avoid her becoming regent.
The friendship between Cinders and Sophia is very important to me, so regardless of any romantic pairings I'd love to see some of that shine through.
Seven Kingdoms: The Princess Problem
Hilariously, nobody remembered to nominate any of the MC origins. That's fine. I love NPC-focus stories a lot and the fandom doesn't have that many of them.
I threw a lot of stuff at the wall here, so run with any of it at any direction you please.
Location AU: instead of Vail Isle, the location of the Summit rotates, and this time it's Skalt. Also serves as a role reversal AU for Ana! Would prefer focus on the ladies for this one. If you feel like it, throw in my precious crack pairing of Penelope/Ana.
Selkie AU: all Hiseans are secretly mermaids or selkies? Mythological creatures AU is same, except each kingdom is uhhh, a different mythological hybrid? Cordelia focus might be nice for this one.
Soul marks: I love the idea that a soul mark exists, and everyone is guaranteed a soul match, but because of the sheer size of the world & population only a vanishing few ever get a chance to meet their match. I love even more the idea that institutions like the Summit were created to increase people's chances of finding their match, if they live in a different country. Any pairing is fine here (with the usual caveats re: Avalie and Lisle).
Role swap: I was mainly thinking of Clarmont and Gisette for this, but an AU where Ria and Sayra are delegates and some of the canon delegates are maids would also be cool. Or where one of the ladies accidentally takes on the role of the MC as the inexplicable focus of everyone's shenanigans. And ends up retracing Katyia's footsteps. E.g. Penelope in the role of the SP!MC would be super cool, with or without a romance.
Poly/sedoretu AU: just what it says on the tin, go wild.
Uhhh... That's it, I think.
