Aang: Not the Last Airbender?

Okay, so this is totally out of left field and I'm at least a year behind everyone else. More, considering this is the first season I'm talking about. Well, and there's some spoilers for later on, also. Not much, though.
Everyone keeps saying that the Avatar line will be broken because Aang is the last airbender and there will be no one to teach the next avatar airbending. Now, I know it's right there in the title, and all, but? Teo, the boy from the Northern Air Temple, is basically an airbender sans training. Now that Aang and Appa can train him, there's no reason why he can't become an airbending master. And, if he can, so can any other intrinsic bender who is so inclined.
Over the course of the series, it's stated pretty much explicitly that bending is a generic power, that people learn to bend the elements they do because of training or culture, not because the fundamentals of waterbending and earthbending are different. Even if someone was born in the Earth Kingdom, I don't think that would necessarily prevent them from becoming air nomads, or even airbenders, if they had the talent and someone to teach them. Like I said, I think Teo pretty much is an airbender, to the same extent that Katara was a waterbender when the series started.
And if I made a sequel series (which I doubt is going to happen) I would make Teo a major character in it. His concept is too interesting to let slide in one episode.
