Sudden Blackout = Fun

A while ago I had computer trouble and discovered that water was leaking into my living room wall and spoiling the electrical sockets there. The leak was fix but the second socket was (very probably) damaged and needed replacing. About a week ago (I think) I had another computer blackout, the computer just spontaneously rebooting itself while I was playing a game.
I turned off the computer and tried plugging it into another socket. Still with the blackouts. I checked to see what errors the reboot was generating and consequently manually installed a new driver for my graphics card. This is the same card that has been supporting all my games for a couple of years now, so why would it suddenly start giving me so much grief? And yet, still with the damn blackout.
Buying a new card may be ~necessary, to the extent that I won't be able to play games until I replace the damn card. Which is a pain. Do video cards have use-by dates?
As a side-note, my hate for the Dragon Age rune system is vast as an ocean.
