Against all odds: This is so canon I don't even know how to approach it. Like, 100% of what happens in Dragon Age fits the bill.

Fake relationship: I want to use this for one of my more minor fandoms, like maybe Orphan Black.

AU: mundane: I have never considered this before but it has options. Basically all of my fandoms are speccy/supernatural, so I have endless choices.

Mind control: This makes me super uncomfortable if I take it at face value, so I will have to tread carefully.

AU: high school/college: I have done both those, if briefly. I would be tempted to just take all the characters from a fandom and dump them into a girls' school and see what happens.

Secret twin/doppelganger: I have never done this, but it has intriguing possibilities. For some reason Cinders strikes me as a good source text for this.

Soul bonding: NGL, I was hoping this would show up. I am completely going to write the world's most uncomfortable "I wish we weren't imprinted" soul-bond marriage. I just haven't decided which of endless options of characters to use. Everything is so delicious.

Language and translation: This would be difficult to write but possibly very rewarding. I'm bilingual, and language is very important in my life. I need to think this through.

Transformations: I've written this before, in a flat crack way. Now that I'm not writing Homestuck anymore I need to give this one more thought. Welcome to Night Vale seems like a good option for weird fluff.

Rite of passage/coming of age: There are a couple of easy/obvious choices for this (vallaslin, natch) but I might go digging for some other, less obvious idea.

AU: alternate gender norms: Once I get started I'll be unstoppable, the only question is, how to start?

Twenty four hours to live: I don't know if I can do this one. It's another obvious one for Mahariel (or worse yet, Bethany) but I'm not sure I can handle it. And I'm not sure it would produce a worthwhile piece.

Forbidden fruit: Tempting to give this a nonromantic twist. Lots of characters face huge class-related restrictions. Or I could just write Anna Hawke taunting Sebastian.

In vino veritas/drunkfic: I have done this too, but it has endless options. Lost Girl has potential.

Kidfic: WHAT EVEN. This is one of those romance/fluff/shipping tropes that never ever occurs to me. But, several characters have canon children, right? And I did write (or try to write) about the OGB, and about Cinders and her daughter (not canon, but probable). IDK, maybe I can manage this.

Immortality/reincarnation: Oy with the OGB already. Oh! Or Legend of Korra.

Mind games: Orphan Black is good for this one, I think. Specifically Helena or Sarah or both of them.

AU: crossover: IDK where to start. Lost Girl/everything?

Friends to lovers/friends with benefits: The latter, probably. As soon as I can locate a likely pair(/trio?) who are not canonically on the casual->relationship path (which rules out Bo).

Trust and vows: I want to say Long Live the Queen and oaths of fealty, but I'm not sure I have what it takes to write that fic.

Unexpected friendship: Cinders and Gloria or Aveline and Merrill. Or Sarah and Allison.

Slavefic: I think and think and ponder and I don't know if I'll be able to do this.

AU: historical: This is tricky because the time periods that I care/know stuff about are nonstandard and that makes me insecure.

Sharing a bed: This should be easy. It could make for a good Korrasami, for one.

I could do an X. I think I could do that. An easier choice would be a vertical down from "fake relationship" or a horizontal from "kidfic". If I use a free space I'm gonna have to think long and hard about what to write, maybe one of the ideas I neglected so far will fit.

Secret twin Cinders fic is an interesting idea. Who would have the secret twin? Cinders herself? You might be able to play with getting two different endings simultaneously (one Cinders goes to Ghede to help snag the prince, the other gets help from the fairies to run away, or something along those lines).

That's an intriguing possibility. I was thinking something like, Cinders leaves town and suddenly her doppelganger shows up and everyone is confused/scared/angry.
