Keeping Busy
Wednesday, 7 October 2009 18:59This week I spent a lot of time wandering around, taking pictures of things. I also went to a couple of museums, especially when the weather turned. On Monday, I went to the Life museum which had great scientific exhibits. Yesterday I saw Bessie Surtees House, a 17th century house made famous by the elopement of the owner's minor daughter with a poor law student who ended up becoming Lord Chancellor. Today I went to the Discovery museum, which has a lot of great labor-related exhibits. I got back after 5 PM and Heather was sitting on the stairs waiting for me. She'd left me the keys when she went out, and her class ended a lot earlier that either of us expected.
I spent quite a while in bookstores this week, but managed to restrain myself. I saw a lot of interesting books, and they had the new Hobb in hardcover. I am resolved to wait for the paperback, though. First I need to work through my backlog. I have so many books. Right now I'm making slow but fascinated progress on Zahrah the Windseeker, which is pretty awesome. I thought I was totally burned out on YA, but I'm not. Maybe I can also get some writing done. I did make up a bunch of names, and now I need an opening scene, and I'm good.
