Ridiculous When Tired
Monday, 16 April 2012 22:01It's safe to ignore that last post. I just got overtired while hunting for textbooks with an unusually heavy backpack, and when I got home my brain was a mess. Why I thought it wise to post about it to DW, I'm not sure.
My second big boo-boo in DAO was getting halfway through the Orzammar quests before realizing that, of course, the "Mines of Moria" quest is way too difficult for a character at my level, with the skills and equipment I have. Even though I'm still on easy mode, I feel pretty proud about how much of that quest I got through, before realizing that the creatures down below were about to wipe out my party for the third time in a row. Then I decided to get the hell out, cash in on some minor side-quests, and try to finish the urn quest before I go back.
The good news is I have Oghren now, plus I did a thorough looting job both in Jarvia's hideout and in the parts of the mines that I managed to conquer. And I switched my rogue back to leather armor, now that I can access and afford the good kind. Sure, I hate the cleavage-y look that female leather armor has, but she's a rogue, and it's kind of silly to have her in clunky warrior armor so that I can actually hear her jingling when she runs from one spot to another.
I want to make my rogue specialize, but I'm not sure in what. Theoretically, assassin is most in-character for her, but that would mean two assassins in the party, which is sort of superfluous I think. Gameplay-wise, the best would be to pick one of the other two, but... a dwarf ranger? Really? Plus, it just doesn't seem all that useful. Honestly, I have no way to tell which talents or attacks will be most useful until after I've learned how to use them, which is kind of a pain. Actually, I still haven't figured out how to utilize Morrigan's spider form properly, even though it does look super cool.
Strategy is hard, wah.
Luckily I find writing about DAO to be very relaxing.

2012-04-19 10:51 (UTC)For example, Morrigan's shapeshifting seems like it ought to be really useful in melee, especially vs. multiple opponents. Yet I've not been able to figure out how to get the best use out of either the spider or the bear forms. Now I'm starting to think none of them are very useful until you master all four levels. IDK.
I will probably just go ahead and make her an assassin, even though I already have one. At any rate, unlocking assassin shouldn't require much more than buying Zevran's affection with gifts.

Rogue focus.
Uff. I know I'm slow and late, but I hope those help somewhat, even just to clarify what I was suggesting you look up for ideas. *ruffles hair* I'm not always the clearest, and bad at googling. >>
