LOST GIRL: The Fangirling

So, it took me a little over an hour to go from reading marina's post about Lost Girl, to watching the first episode, to full-on fangirling. I am in love with this show. I don't care that it has the worst name ever*, that the SFX are hilarious and the puns make my brain leak out of my ears. It stars a hot, leather-clad, canonically bi succubus with an adorable sidekick. She has a love triangle with a man and a woman. There is a siren, who's a cop yes, he's a police siren. There are ~Fae~ of many different kinds! There could be mermaids, or unicorns. I mean, no, but a girl can dream. And by dream, I mean write fic.

This show is everything I wanted that one book to be, but it wasn't. It's a show about a succubus where she's being sexy, and likes sex a lot. It has the added bonus of defanging the whole theological devil angle and just going with her being (in so many words) a sex-vampire, which neatly sidesteps much of the skeeviness. It has an adorable sidekick, a hot lady doctor who kisses ladies FOR SCIENCE! and everybody wears black all. the. time. The crack. It is DELICIOUS. Now pardon me, because I think my episode loaded.

* Not even remotely. Look, they were gonna make a Sex and the City-with-werewolves show and call it ~Bitches~. I mean.

Have you seen the one promo pic that has Bo/Dyson in a fairly classic "couple" pose, and then Bo reaching out to twiddle Lauren's hair, kinda drawing her closer? Because HOMG that pic! And it's something to see something that seems to imply a canon threesome...and then realize that will probaly happen as soon as they find a way to not kill (literally) the third party.

I saw that, it's awesome! I'm kind of hoping it means the Lauren relationship builds up more slowly, because that's how I prefer it. Also, since they're both there from the start, they're on equal footing, so to speak.

I am also taking this as an opportunity to read about Irish mythology on Wikipedia. And the guy who plays the king of the light fae is my new hero, although I have no idea why they didn't just user seelie and unseelie, since those are already pretty widely known.
