First of all, trust me you will want to read God's War's sequel, Infidel, once you're done. Infidel is also a FAR, FAR better book than God's War, so, YOU HAVE A LOT TO LOOK FORWARD TO.
But overall I would say definitely use Sorcerer to the Crown as a palate cleanser between Hurley and Lackey. It's fun and silly and historical and fantasy-themed, perfect between two serious, rather heavy-duty scifi books.
