Milestones - Short Story

Today I submitted a story to a magazine for publication.

I had decided to do so a while back, and I had the story in question written and fairly well-polished. But I kept procrastinating for no discernible reason. And so today I finally went ahead and did it.

Probably I will not hear back for a month, minimum.

Now I just need to figure out a theme for my next short story -- and stop thinking about games/branching stories that I lack the skill and the discipline to complete.

Congratulations! Good luck, but getting to this point is a major achievement in and of itself.

(One of the reasons I like self-publishing is because there's no nausea every time I open my inbox. >> I should... maybe work on that.)

I want to self-publish too, it's just taking a while to gather the materials. Besides, I think it's impossible to self-publish without first building up an audience, which requires having a certain volume of free material available.

I don't think it's impossible, but it is incredibly hard and I'd definitely recommend trying to build an audience first. It really, really helps.
