AO3 Stats - Ratio Edition

I sniffed around my AO3 stats page and found very few surprises, except that four people subscribed to my fics, and all of them were completed ones. What did entertain me was trying to suss out the hits-to-kudos ratio and where it was lowest. There could be all sorts of causes for a low ratio, but the main contributers are, I think, small fandoms and rarepairs. Also, some fandoms are just more awesome like that (c.f. Cinders).
Naturally, this is not an accurate science, especially since AO3 doesn't generate this stat. I started from the fics with the lowest hit count as the immediate suspects.
The Spice of Life, f!Hawke/Merrill (nominally Ivy Hawke), non-porn sexyfic.
Hits: 32. Kudos: 4. Ratio: 8.
This fic was posted backdated, which accounts partly for the low hits. I think Merrill is the main factor. Most fics tagged with her aren't about her, and then there's the ~thing about her looking too young which means even acknowledging her as a person who does sex is slightly unusual.
come tumbling down, my sole Glitch fic.
Hits: 92. Kudos: 6. Ratio: 15.3.
In the aftermath of Glitch's traumatic closure a little over a year ago, I guess people were craving comfortfic. For a story that ends in the total annihilation of existence, CTD is pretty comforting.
Albatross, f!Hawke/Isabela (ish), gift-fic, listed in three (3) collections.
Hits: 119. Kudos: 9. Ratio: 13.3.
If DA has a major femslash fandom, it revolves almost entirely around Hawke/Isabela. I'm fairly certain I've only written this pairing once (and probably won't write it again).
The Grey Warden's Guide
Hits: 153. Kudos: 9. Ratio: 17.
When We Were Very Young
Hits: 172. Kudos: 10. Ratio: 17.2.
Two Natia Brosca fics. NGL, seeing these figures is heartening. These two are among my favorite stories. I worked hard on them and I'm very proud of them. It bears noting that the first one is a slightly unusual format. I think the scarcity of Brosca fic in general is a contributing factor. Also, both of these are gen, so they don't interfere with people's shippy preferences.
Poison in the Blood, my first Cinders fic, written while the fandom was in its first bloom of radiant adolescence.
Hits: 237. Kudos: 13. Ratio: 18.2.
As I said, Cinders fandom is very cool, and it was much more active shortly after the game came out. That's when most of the fic was written.
These are ordered as they appeared on my stats page, all fics sorted by hits, descending. With one exception (Glitch) the least-hit fics have the best ratio of hits-to-kudos -- within these results. Most of my lowest-hit fics are still in the 0-1 kudos range, as expected. A typical ratio for me hovers around the 30, as with my second most popular fic, :33 < nepeta leijon trolls the united nations (1001; 34; 29.4), and my most popular fic of 2013, How Carlos Got His Third Eye (525; 15; 35)
My second-least-hit fic of 2013 has the highest ratio, and the only single digit figure. As I said, I attribute this more to an unusually low hit count due to backdating.
Predictions: Trollslum, my collected meme fills for the SFW Homestuck meme, has not been updated since I faded out of the fandom. Still, it has by far the highest hit count, more than double the second-highest (which is also Homestuck). I may never publish a fic that gets more cumulative hits, or at least not in the foreseeable future. On the flipside, they're at 2401 and 1001 respectively, and will probably not go up much. The fandom has grown by orders of magnitude, and the volume of fic makes oldfic less than easy to stumble onto.
On a similar note, my anthologyofwhat Tumblr fic collection won't be gaining any new entries since I switched URLs this fall, so its hit count might gain, but not substantially above the current 484. If/when I collect ficbits from the new Tumblr, I expect the rate of hits to be about the same and eventually (if I stay in DA fandom) to catch up.
My best-hit fic of 2013 is (not surprisingly) the Cecil/Carlos fic. It was posted in September and still steadily gains kudos and hits. I just got three kudos on it this week. Unless WTNV experiences a massive shift in popularity (since the last one) I expect it to continue at a similarly tapering rate. I wonder what page of the pairing tag it's on.
FSTs will continue to get very few hits. DAII femslash will continue to be reasonably well-received. Fics that I agonize over for months will often receive less attention than fics composed in an LJ/DW comment textbox (c.f. Interrupted vs. Graceland). Cinders fandom will likely remain sleepy. The
purimgifts collection will continue to give me much love and attention and water my soul with hits and kudos and ~comments <3<3<3 4eva. Girlfucking is always a safe bet.
