Porn Update

"Write porn," they said. "It'll make you popular," they said.

The update is, I spent a goodly part of the big snowstorm yesterday writing porn. Then I did some other things, then I reread my porn for proof errors and vocabulary nitpicking, and then I posted it late at night, which is supposed to correspond to North American early evening. I know that eventually someone will notice my porn, and that not getting instant feedback is a silly reason to complain. I know all this, and yet.

In other news, I should probably go out for groceries, but the weather outside is pretty discouraging. I did a turn late last night and the roads were worryingly slushy. Plus, there are fallen trees and stacks of branches blocking the sidewalk at intervals. Weather: 1, flora: 0. Road maintenance in Jerusalem: -25.

I have that reaction every time I write anything vaguely sexually explicit or slashy or whatever and don't get immediately inundated with kudos. Clearly our problem is that we're not writing Fenris/Anders coffeeshop dubcon PWP or whatever it is the kids are after these days :)

From a quick skim of the longest kmeme fills, I'd say Tevinter magister A/Us. Which is something I would never write even if I wanted creepy power dynamic fic, because I go for a much subtler form of power dynamic than fandom trends towards. Which also explains why I've written zero mage/templar interactions.

Fandom is squee but it's also frustrating. I just have to keep reminding myself that I write for myself.

It's the "men in pain" thing I suppose. There was a time when I would have been attracted to that sort of premise, myself. As much angst and overblown tragedy as you can stuff into a single storyline, and wrap it all around a man because writing about a woman crying makes you feel weak. At least, that's how it worked for me.

Ha, I know the feeling. No matter how many times I remind myself that it's no doubt just because I posted while most of fandom was asleep/at work/etc....

(Though I do have ideas re: an Anders/Fenris AU set in Tevinter, albeit not a Tevinter magister one. Insta-popularity recipe, maybe? :p)

If only I could get myself remotely interested in either Anders or Fenris. Le sigh.
